Proceeds from the Billy Miller Forever Memorial Celebration on April 29th will be equally divided for two causes, the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation and the Ponderosa Stomp Foundation. Many friends who cannot attend the event have asked how they can contribute. Billy has his own tribute page at the MMRF site which is the website for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. Billy can also be remembered with a donation to the PSF, the Ponderosa Stomp Foundation. Information about each organization follows here, along with direction on how to contribute in Billy’s memory. Thank you to everyone.

Billy was a force of nature. We all knew that. We were all certain that if anyone could beat multiple myeloma, it would be Billy. He was diagnosed in 2003 and symptoms were kept at bay for a decade. His hematologist called him her miracle patient. However, in 2013, Billy was diagnosed with kidney failure from MM and he began a heavy schedule of dialysis, chemotherapy, and radiation. The three year battle 2013-2016 came to an end this past November, despite every positive thought and prayer, and every form of advanced treament.
Billy’s world revolved around music and people who made and loved music. We met in 1977, and started a rock n’ roll magazine together called Kicks. I joined his band the Zantees — he was the rockin’ rollin’ front man, I played the drums. Later, we became the A-Bones, named after a song by the Trashmen of Surfin Bird fame. Thirty years ago, we started a record label which Billy named after Ed Norton of TV’s The Honeymooners. Norton Records became our life, and we spent 24 hours a day living in a perfect world of music, joy, and love. We met most of our rock n’ roll heroes, and felt privileged to record them, and to issue their music. Billy was a jack of all trades with music. He wrote, produced, sang, and A&R’d his heart out. He was also a serious record collector. Our home was rarely silent, let alone quiet. Our wonderful world was crushed when our record company went underwater in Red Hook during Hurricane Sandy. Some say the trauma of that occurrence helped bring on the serious and debilitating symptoms of the bone marrow cancer. I had 39 years of happiness with my #1 person Billy, and I know he was tops in all of your hearts, too. Please help us honor our beloved Billy while making a difference to those suffering with this cancer. The MMRF is an important partner in finding a cure. We appreciate your support. Together we can make a difference! THANK YOU.

The Ponderosa Stomp festival in New Orleans was always a favorite event for us, and Billy loved every moment of  the music, both as a fan and as a musician. He also loved to help recommend forgotten artists to the Stomp, and felt that the Stomp’s mission in honoring music and musicians was akin to our own at Norton Records. Contributing to the Stomp is easy. Click the link below, designate “Billy Miller” at the “dedication” link, and proceed. THANK YOU.
